Kevin: 2012 Senior

My hands were sweating and my heart was racing. I was meeting my boyfriend’s family for the first time. I was so afraid of what they would think of me and if they would like me. This is how the guy is supposed to feel right? Steve takes my hand and leads me into the living room where his parent’s were watching President Bush speak about the tragedy of 9/11. I smiled as he introduced me and they smiled back. There was a slight tension in the air as it was just a few days after 9/11 and the reality of the situation was lingering and everyone wondered what would happen next. I tried to push past the uneasiness as he gave me a tour of the house. His two younger brothers were getting ready for bed and hiding out in the bathroom. You could tell from their giggles and whispers they were planning something.

A few minutes later, Steve knocks on the bathroom door and asks if they would like to meet his girlfriend. Their response was, “yeah” followed by more giggles. All of a sudden the door swings open and they come running out screaming, with towels over their faces. I started to laugh and the uneasiness began to subside. They were planning a way to embarrass their big brother in front of his new girlfriend. Steve quickly wrangled them up and pulled the towels off their head. There were two adorable little boys hysterically laughing and smiling back at me. The youngest was Kevin with the cutest dimples.

Kevin was just 8 years old when I first met him and I’ve watched him grow up into a handsome and respectable young man. I couldn’t believe it was time to take his senior pictures. The past 10 years have flown by and I’m not quite sure when he grew up. I’m so proud of him and can’t wait to see him graduate.

We started off in a local park for some relaxed natural portraits.

Then we headed to the Fat Village Arts District in Ft. Lauderdale to find some cool textures and pops of color.

See I told you he was handsome! Look at that refined model face. 😉

I love you Kevin and it was such an honor to photograph your senior pictures. I’m one proud big sister-in-law!

Cheryl B. Omgoodness..his name is Kevin. Okay I just read the etry, got sidetracked by the pictures. That is too weird. Remember how I kept calling Steve “Kevin” when I first met you guys at Katie’s shower? And I LOVE the story.
