Inspiration from Movies Contest

I asked everyone on Facebook to name their favorite romantic movies and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of responses I received. The first one to be mentioned right away was “The Notebook” of course. I’ve seen several photoshoots that have been inspired by this movie and decided I wanted to do something different. So I picked four of my favorite romantic movies and put together an inspiration board for each. The following movies are:

1. Dirty Dancing

I have LOVED dirty dancing since I was a little girl. It’s one of my all time favorite movies and I can probably recite every line in  it. Just ask my husband. =) I think it would be a lot of fun to pull inspiration from this movie with modern glitter keds and jean shorts or soft pale pink dress, while recreating some of the famous scenes in dirty dancing. Shooting both in a dance studio and a natural environment. The lake scene would be a MUST!

2. Dear John

Nicholas Sparks writes some of the BEST books which are later turned into movies. I loved the over all feel of this movie. Lots of scenes with yummy golden light. We would shoot by the beach and recreate the scene of when they first meet, as well as, how they spent many summer nights. Use love letters, surf boards, and blankets as a few props and even incorporate military clothing.

3. 50 First Dates

This is not a typical movie to be thought of when you think of romance, but I think it’s one of the most romantic love stories. Can you imagine finding a man who makes you fall in love with him everyday? It would also make for a fun summery shoot. Using a local seaquarium and marina as a backdrop and incorporating the infamous pineapple, waffles, and newspaper. Have fun video taping each other and painting together!

4. Pride and Prejudice

This one was mentioned several times on facebook and I’m so glad it was. I love old English wardrobe and styling. I imagine soft natural colors and a dreamy field. Using old journals, books, tea sets, and candles to create the perfect victorian styling. Pair it with a soft beige dress and a handsome man dressed in a jacket and scarf tie. This would be a truly passionate and romantic shoot.

Now for the contest! Email me (Julie@photosbyjewel.com) a photo of you and your hunny with a little bit about your love story and which movie you would like to pull inspiration from. I will then pick my favorite for each and have everyone vote for their overall favorite couple on facebook. The one with the most votes will receive a free photoshoot by me, including styling, makeup, hair, and accessories, as well as, five medium resolution digital images. The shoot must take place in the South Florida area. All entries must be made by Sunday at 11pm. Feel free to pass it along to family and friends!
