Rain, rolling thunder, and lighting couldn’t keep me from photographing this precious family. As you already know, Melanie is a dear friend of mine and I wanted to be able to capture their new life as a family of three. We were finally able to coordinate a day and I wasn’t going to let the weather ruin it for us. Dean is two months now and he’s changed so much already, we needed to hold onto the memories of his newborn stage before it slipped between our fingers. Babies sure do grow up fast! He’s already doubled his weight and is so much more alert. We waited out the rain and when there was a small break in the clouds, we took our chances and headed to the oak ridge. I wasn’t going to get my hopes up and only planned on having maybe five minutes before we’d be running for the car, but mother nature was on my side. We were able to get thirty minutes outside. It was definitely humid but the Collins were troopers and didn’t complain once. I’m so happy to know this gorgeous family. They are just as beautiful inside as they are on the outside. Dean, sweet baby boy please slow down. You’re growing so fast and I know your momma wants you to stay her baby forever.
While we waited, the three of them cuddled on the couch and Dean thought his momma was pretty funny.
On the ride over, Dean fell asleep and didn’t want to be waken for photos. No matter how much we moved him, he stayed sound asleep.

Dave wasn’t able to be there for Dean’s newborn session so I wanted to make sure I captured some of him and Dean together.

We finally got Dean awake, but he didn’t seem amused by the crazy lady with the camera 😉
He would sneak a cat nap in between and this one reminds me of a little old man with his arms crossed over his chest. So cute!
Melanie is an amazing mother and definitely has a unique bond with her son already
And motherhood has made her more radiant than ever
