Kristen: Jungle Island Quince

When I met with Kristen and her parents over a year ago she was quiet and reserved, but her face lit up when she spoke of her plans for her quincenera. She didn’t want to wear a traditional white gown, instead she chose a gorgeous blue gown that reminded her of the water and really brought out her gorgeous blue eyes. Her party is ocean themed as well and it ties in perfectly. At the time she had her dreaded teenage braces and said she couldn’t wait to get them off after almost 4 years! The day of her session she came walking up to me and flashed a gorgeous bright smile. I could hardly recognize her with her hair and make-up done to perfection and her glow of confidence. Is it really possible for a person to grow and mature so much in just a year??

Then, she stepped in front of my camera and I was blown away. She was such a delight to photograph and so photogenic. She made my job easy! I would give her direction or an idea and Kristen would do something naturally better than what I thought I wanted. I can’t wait for her party this weekend so I can see all their hard work and dedication come to life. It’s sure to be a night to remember! Kristen, I hope the memories of this special time in your life last forever. You are a beautiful young woman and have a bright future ahead of you. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors!

We started the day off shooting around the grounds of Jungle Island in Miami. It served as a gorgeous backdrop for her photos.

Kristen loves country music and we’ll being doing a choreographed dance to a country song she pulled out the cowboy hat and boots for some photos.

After waiting out the rain for a few minutes, we headed to the beach on Jungle Island for some fun, relaxed portraits. These may be some of my favorites!

How awesome are her shoes?!

The photo on the right….model status

When I went to drape her sarong over her head, I got a lot of skeptical looks and her dad even said she looked like the Virgin Mary. I told them to just trust me and go with and it ended up being one of their favorite images! I knew the green would really make her eyes pop and I love the subtle drama to the photo.

We ended the session as the sun went down and the Miami Skyline began to light up. This spot has become a favorite request among my clients and there’s no doubt why.
