Becky and Derek: Grove City Wedding

I have typed and retyped this story at least five times now and I can’t seem to put into words the way I feel about the wedding of these two amazing people. I only met Becky once back in November before her and Derek decided to book me for their wedding. She’s best friends with my best friend, Patty, and when I first met her she greeted me with a huge smile and big hug. She’s the type of girl that lights up a room and you can’t help but love her. (Just wait til you see the pictures. You’ll see what I’m talking about.) Over the past couple months I’ve been getting to know her more through the wonderful world of Facebook and I had no idea how much heartache and tragedy Becky and her family have faced. Becky has lost three people who she was incredibly close to. Her younger brother, Adam. Her best friend, Rachel. And Adam’s best friend, Jason, who was like a brother to her. They were all taken much too soon, but as I listened to Becky tell their stories, she ended by saying “God has a plan.” Her faith has never wavered and her strength is admirable. Throughout her wedding she chose to include them in the small details so they would be with her on one of the happiest days of her life.

I’ll continue a bit of their story throughout the photos. Grab a snack it’s a long post!

The weather drastically changed the day before the wedding from the high 80s to the low 60s. When I woke up the morning of the wedding it was cold, rainy, and cloudy, but that wouldn’t ruin what was sure to be an amazing day!

I LOVE Derek’s ring and how unique it is. Becky picked it out and that’s her thumb print! How neat is that?!

The girls spent the morning at the salon and here’s one of Becky’s maid of honor’s finishing up her speech.

Patty helped the bridesmaids with makeup

This little girl is way too cute! She was so excited to be a part of Becky and Derek’s wedding. She couldn’t wait to get her dress on and watched closely as Becky got ready.

Becky’s mom and sister helped her into her dress. I adore those two. Such warm hearted people.

Becky’s sister, Stephanie, got emotional seeing her as a bride.

I love that Becky included her new sister-in-law and mother-in-law

The moment Becky’s dad saw her for the first time was so sweet. They definitely have a special relationship.

Isn’t she gorgeous?!

Derek cleans up nice and makes a very handsome groom

H can go from adorable smile to model face in the blink of an eye

He was definitely nervous on the big day but this little sassy one helped take his mind of it.

Becky struggled with whether to do a first look or not. She wanted to stick to tradition and have Derek see her for the first time coming down the aisle, so we compromised by blindfolding him. It was such a sweet moment just before the ceremony.

You’ll notice a lot of family members and friends are wearing bracelets like these. They are in memory of Adam, Rachel, and Jason.
These little ones definitely stole the show coming down the aisle.
Derek is known for his sarcastic sense of humor, but he definitely has a sensitive side that he shares with Becky. His vows were quite emotional and had everyone in tears. Even me!
After the ceremony, the rain let up and we headed over to Grove City High School’s football field to take some fun bridal party photos. Derek teaches at the high school and is the football coach too.
I had to grab a few of the gorgeous ladies since we weren’t able to before the ceremony.
Fierce ladies!
Becky and Derek chose to do a day after session so we grabbed just a few of the two of them at the field.
Then onto the reception!
The song they chose for the cake cutting was, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” They definitely lived up to the song!
Becky and Derek, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be a part of your big day. It was such an honor and so much fun. I can’t wait to share the rest with you! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness! Love you both!
